Product Description

What is the Udhiyah (Qurbani)?

Udhiyah means an animal (camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the days of Eid al-Adha as an act of worship to Allah.

“The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sacrificed two white rams speckled with black. He slaughtered them with his own hand, said ‘Allahu akbar’ and put his foot on their necks.”  Bukhari and Muslim

What is the ruling of the Qurbani?

Most of the scholars say it is highly recommended (Sunnah Mu’akadah) for the one who can do it and there is a great reward in it.

What is the reward of the Udhiyah

The companions asked the ProphetSAW what benefit is there for us in it?” He replied, “A reward for every hair on the skin of the sacrificed animal.” They asked, “And for animals with wool?” The Messenger of Allah replied, “A reward for every strand of wool” [Bukhari]

When is the time to do the Udhiyah

The time for offering the Udhiyah begins after the Eid prayer and ends the evening of the 13th of Dhul hijjah. It cannot be done before the Eid prayer.

Important rulings regarding the Qurbani:

1)     The animal that is being sacrificed should be free of any faults.

There are four that will not do for sacrifice: a one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious, a sick animal whose sickness is obvious, a lame animal whose limp is obvious and an emaciated animal that has no marrow in its bones.” (Al-Bukhari).

2)     It is forbidden to sell it if the animal has been selected for sacrifice.

3)     It is better for a person to slaughter the sacrifice himself if possible, you are also allowed to have someone do it on your behalf and even send money to another country.

“The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sacrificed two white rams speckled with black. He slaughtered them with his own hand, said ‘Allahu akbar’ and put his foot on their necks.”  Bukhari and Muslim

4)     If you sacrifice one sheep or goat, this will only suffice for one man and his family. if it is a camel or a cow than 7 people including their respective families can share in it.

Jabir ibn AbdAllah said: “On the day of al-Hudaybiyah we offered the sacrifice with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), a camel on behalf of seven and a cow on behalf of seven.  (Muslim)

5)     It is recommended to eat from the udhiyah but also to give some as charity and gifts.

The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said concerning the udhiyah: “Eat some, store some and give some in charity.” Narrated by Muslim (1971).

6)     If you want to offer a sacrifice you must refrain from taking anything from your hair, nails or skin from the first day of Dhu’l-Hijjah or the day you decide to offer the sacrifice until the day of the slaughter.

The prophet said “When you see the new moon of Dhu’l-Hijjah, if any one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his hair or nails until he has offered his sacrifice.” According to another report: “Let him not touch any part of his hair or nails”. Muslim
