An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude shook Morocco on September 8, 2023, at 11 p.m. local time, followed by a magnitude 4.9 aftershock 19 minutes later.
2,900 people have died (12/09/23) and approx. 3,000 people injured. Several cities, notably Marrakesh, Taroudant, Asmiz and Chichaoua have suffered heavy destruction.
We have identified 3 villages in the mountains that as of today have had no support.
Our assessment has shown that the below key items are needed:
- Shelter
- Water for drinking and cooking
- Non-perishable food supplies
- Baby Food
- Hygiene Kits (including sanitary towels)
- Toilets
- Mattresses
- Blankets
TFGLM is working closely with our ground teams and up to 500 food boxes have been prepared along with hygiene kits and essential items
