Children are dying from starvation

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“The merciful are shown mercy by Ar-Rahman. Be merciful on the earth, and you will be shown mercy from Who is above the heavens..”

“Whoever helps his brother in his time of need, Allah will be there in his time of need”.

(Muslim)

After our success in Yemen and Ethopia, we are now launching a malnutrition appeal to help those affected in Sudan!

Sudan is facing extreme levels of food insecurity, with 17.7 million people—37% of the population—experiencing crisis (IPC 3) or worse levels.

The Situation in Sudan

There is an urgent humanitarian crisis that requires immediate action. The conflict in Sudan has resulted in devastating consequences for civilians. Needs in the country across all clusters were already at an all-time high, when fighting broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces on 15 April 2023.

Since then, over 5.4 million people have been internally displaced across the country. Many others have been cut off from access to basic services in Khartoum, Darfur and Kordofan states. Prices of food commodities, when available, continue to soar. The protection of civilians remains a key concern, with reports of increased sexual and gender-based violence as well as reports of family separation and child recruitment. Access to health continues to be hampered by the ongoing conflict. Health facilities lack sufficient staff and supplies and are barely functional in some areas.
In Sudan, life has become an uphill battle for millions. Consider donating for the brothers and sisters in Sudan as they are
navigating through these hardships.

The Most Vulnerable

Unfortunately, in these conflicts, it is the children who suffer the most. The UN’s Hunger Hotspots report highlights over 43 million people in 38 countries across the globe are now at risk of famine or a food crisis, unless they receive immediate life-saving support.

At crisis levels of food insecurity, families adopt negative coping strategies, like selling their possessions or marrying off their children, to secure enough food to meet their basic needs. At more extreme levels of food insecurity, hunger and starvation are a daily occurrence.

More than 1,000 children in Sudan have lost their lives due to an outbreak of measles. Due to malnutrition, a weakened healthcare system, and low immunisation rates, disease outbreaks will continue to disproportionately affect children with catastrophic consequences.

Almost half of global child deaths are linked to malnutrition

One in five children around the world suffer from wasting, which means they have a low weight for their height. There is a desperate need to invest in nutrition interventions that have lifelong effects.

The Solution

Provide a life-saving food pack to a family in need.

This 40 kg package includes essential items such as 10 kg of sorghum flour, 10 kg of sugar, 6 kg of red beans, 5 kg of lentils, 5 kg of rice, and 4 liters of cooking oil.

Additionally, for £22, you can provide shelter essentials to help families survive in challenging conditions.

Your generous contribution will ensure that vulnerable families receive critical food supplies and access to essential medical care, making a real difference in their lives.
