Since 5 July 2026, flash floods and landslides have affected 12 districts, impacted 1.7 million people and caused 56 deaths, widespread destruction, and displacement approximately 36000 people.
Critical infrastructure has been severely damaged, including 241 km of roads, 10 embankment breaches, blocked transport routes, communication outages, and extensive damage to agriculture, fisheries, and livestock.
Among all vulnerable areas, Chandanaish, Banshkhali and Satkania sub-districts of Chattogram district have experienced hardest impacts from flooding, river erosion and rising river levels, leaving vulnerable households with urgent humanitarian needs.
Forecasts indicate an additional 100–300 mm of rainfall in coming 3 days, with peak rainfall of up to 88 mm expected, increasing the risk of renewed flooding and landslides.
Nearly 1.7 million people across 12 districts have been affected, among whom more than 50% are female.
36,000 people have been displaced by the ongoing floods and landslides. The Government of Bangladesh has established 1,049 evacuation shelters, currently accommodating 38,422 people across the affected districts.
